The state government today deposited Rs 17.50 Crore into the Corpus Fund created for the welfare of Journalist fraternity in the state. This is as part of the 3rd instalment out of Rs100 Crore Journalist welfare fund announced by the Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao. Earlier the government has released Rs 34.50 lakh in two instalments and with this 3rd instalment, the total Corpus Fund has reached Rs52 Crore.

The move came following the meeting of the Press Academy Chairman Allam Narayana with Minister KT Rama Rao yesterday. Thanking the Minister for his quick response, Allam Narayana said this would facilitate the Academy to reach more number of journos in their hour of need.

KTR will also be distributing the cheques to the needy journalists exclusively to be organised by the Academy on March 7 at Jal Vihar.
