Kavitha helps a gulf victim to return home

Gulf victim Ankamolla Ravi who was rescued by Kalvakuntla Kavitha from Saudi Arabia is seen on his arrival at his house in Armoor.

Former MP and President of Telangana Jagruthi Kalvakuntla Kavitha rescued a Telangana man who was tortured by his employer in Saudi Arabia.


Ankamolla Ravi, a native of Armoor in Nizamabad district migrated to Saudi Arabia six years ago to support his family back home. However, Ravi claimed that his employer had been resorting to physical abuses on a regular basis. The hapless victim Ravi posted a video of his bloodied face on social media.

Ravi’s family approached Narsimha Naidu, president of Gulf Victims Welfare Association for help, who in turn brought the issue to the notice of former MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha. She took up the matter with the Union Minister for External Affairs S Jaishankar through Twitter seeking his intervention in rescuing Ankamolla Ravi.

With directions from former MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha, Telangana Jagruthi activists in Saudi Arabia rescued Ravi from his employer’s place and provided him with temporary shelter.

Kalvakuntla Kavitha meanwhile discussed the matter at hand with Indian embassy officials in Saudi Arabia and helped Ravi in getting a flight ticket to Hyderabad. On Sunday night, Ankamolla Ravi reached Shamshabad airport and officials moved Ravi to Armoor by following the Covid-19 guidelines. 

Ravi’s family members thanked Kavitha for her immediate compassionate response and rescuing Ravi from torture in Saudi Arabia.
