The TRS candidate Kalvakuntla Kavitha has been declared elected in the bypolls held on Sunday to the Nizmabad Local Body Constitutency.
She received 728 votes out of 823 votes with both Congress and BJP losing their deposits. She was almost won in the first round wherein she secured 600 votes followed by 197 in second and remaining in the subsequent rounds.
BJP candidate Yendla Laxminarayana has secured 56 votes while Subash Reddy from Congress ended up with securing hardly with 29 votes. However, 10 votes have been rejected. The jubilant TRS workers and leaders took out a massive rally to mark the victory of Kavitha in Kamareddy.
The Election Officer and the District Collector presented the Certificate to Kavitha on the occasion. She later reached Pragati Bhavan and took the blessings of her father Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao.
The Minister Vemula Prashanti Reddy, Rajya Sabha Member Suresh Reddy and Zaheerabad MP Bibi Patel were present along with other local Nizamabad leaders Farooq Shaik, Bigala Ganesh Gupta, Jeevan Reddy and others.
She is expected to take oath on Wednesday during the one-day session of the Telangana Legislative Council to be held to ratify the state government amendments.
