Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy ascribed motives behind Chief Minister’s actions with regard to opposing Rayalaseem Lift Irrigation Project (RLIP) proposed to be built illegally by the AP government.
Addressing the media through zoom app this evening, Uttam Kumar Reddy reiterated his demand for resignation by the CM in case if AP completes the tender process by August 19. He accused Chandrashekhar Rao of directly helping Andhra Pradesh CM to complete the expansion of Pothyreddypadu Head Regulator and start new Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme which would deprive Telangana of 6.3 TMC of Krishna Water.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that if AP is allowed to build RLI project, southern Telangana region would be deprived of nearly 6.3 TMC of water. “Even the Hyderabad city would not get the drinking water supply”, he said adding that the AP has already called for tenders and it would likely to finalise the same before August 19. At this juncture, KCR had avoided attending the APEX council meeting to finalise secretariat design which seems to be on his top priorities, he said.
“Moreover, KCR had sought to postpone the council meeting after 25th of this month. By then AP would have finalised its tender process for RIL”, he said adding that this act of KCR is causing several doubts to suspect his integrity in resolving the Pothireddypadu issue.
Referring to the Special Leave Petition filed by the TS in Supreme Court opposing the RLIP, Uttam pointed out that instead of making the AP government as A1 in the case, KCR had made Karnataka as A1 followed by Maharashtra and AP as A2 and A3. “This is something beyond anybody’s comprehension that KCR is fighting against whom in the Supreme Court. The government pleaded nowhere in the petition for an immediate stay order on the RLI project”, he pointed out adding that this was done deliberately so as to delay the legal process which will help AP Govt complete both the projects as per their schedule,” he alleged.
“KCR Govt had spent over Rs. 1 lakh crore to construct Kaleshwaram Project to draw just 2 TMC of water which also is causing an additional annual cost of nearly Rs.12,000 crore towards interest on loans, electricity, maintenance, manpower, etc. CM KCR had mortgaged the future of Telangana by taking up this project. However, he is totally silent over losing 6.3 TMC of Krishna River water to Andhra Pradesh which is coming to the State at free of cost through gravity,” he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that AP CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and CM KCR were good friends and the latter even funded YSRCP in the last Assembly elections. CM KCR and Jagan interact very frequently and they met several times in the past. “KCR must answer as to why he is helping the AP Govt take away Telangana’s share in Krishna water. His silence is raising serious suspicions of a secret deal. There will be serious consequences if AP goes ahead with its plans,” he said.
“We will expose KCR. I will implead in the case in the Supreme Court as I was elected as MLA for 5 times and MP this time from Nalgonda, which comes under the ayacut of Nagarjuna Sagar. Congress party will protect the interest of farmers in South Telangana. CM KCR must resign if AP succeeds in constructing the new projects,” he demanded.
He also condemned the decision to cut down the withdrawal of water from 2 TMC to 1 TMC from Krishna River in Nagarjunasagar. He said these orders clearly indicate that KCR Govt was helping the AP Govt in their projects.
CLP leader Bhatti Vikarmarka, MLAs Sampath, Vamshichander Reddy and Ramachandra Reddy were also present in the meeting.
