Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao has helped a veteran Telangana protagonist Dr Kolluri Chiranjeevi by sanctioning an amount of Rs. 5.60 lakh incurred for the operation of his lungs performed on him 2 days ago.
Chairman of the Backward Classes Commission BS Ramulu handed over the cheque to Dr Chiranjeevi at his residence in Lakdikapool today. He was accompanied by other members of the Commission Gauri Shankar and Vakulabharanam Krishna Mohan who enquired about the health of the veteran.
A medical doctor by profession, Chiranjeevi has a prolonged history of fighting for the cause of Telangana since 1969. He was a leader of the Students JAC in 1969 movement and he went into underground due to oppression by the then government. He was the one who severely opposed Chenna Reddy for pledging the movement for Governor’s post. He has been waging a relentless battle since and played a crucial role in the second phase of the movement that lasted for 14 years since 1999. He is currently the President of 1969 Telangana Udhyamakarula Samkhya.
