Expressing concern over the war of words being waged by both MIM and BJP leaders during GHMC election campaign, Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao has announced that the police have been given free hand to suppress the anarchic elements trying to destabilise peace in the city.
Issuing instructions to this effect during a law and order review meeting with top police officials at Pragati Bhavan today, CM said that he has definite information about those anarchists conspiring to create communal disturbances and asked the DGP to suppress them with an iron hand. The move came following a statement by MIM leader Akabaruddin Owaisi challenging the government to remove memorials of late PV Narasimha Rao and NTR from the Necklace road and subsequent reaction by the BJP state chief Bandi Sanjay who challenged to bring down Darussalam within 2 hours.
The meeting was attended by CS Somesh Kumar, DGP Mahender Reddy, Chiefs of 3 Commissionerates Anjani Kumar, VC Sajjanar, Mahesh Bhagawat besides additional DGP Jitendar, IGs Stephen Ravind, Y Nagireddy, Nizamabad IG Shivashankar Reddy, Warangal IG Pramod Kumar etc.
Revealing further on this CM said, he has information about a strategy to create communal tension somewhere in the districts in Warangal, Karimnagar or Nizamabad and spread it to Hyderabad city. These elements are trying their best to create trouble at any of the religious places in the state and give it a communal angle to it to ignite clashes and mileage out of this in the forthcoming GHMC elections, he said.
“During the GHMC polls, certain leaders are trying to get political mileage through several conspiracies. At first, they have used social media to spread fake news. They tried to divert people with morphed photos. Later they have indulged in provocation through their utterances. But yet, peace-loving people in Hyderabad did not fall for their falsehoods. People are not reacting despite the attempts to whip up communal passions. They have realised that their attempts to get votes by throwing money did not work in Hyderabad. With this, they are stooping down to low levels to create communal clashes in Hyderabad and take political mileage of it. They want to create communal clashes in Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam and other places and campaign about them in Hyderabad. They want to create some trouble in Hyderabad and paint it communal and they want to ferment trouble at places of worship. With these acts, they want to whip up communal passions. They want to create such a communal disturbance so that the GHMC polls are not held and postponed. This their actual plan. The state government has definite information about this plan,” the CM said.
“The aim and objective of the government are to maintain law and order situation come what may. Don’t allow anti-social elements plans under any circumstances. We have fought relentlessly to get Telangana state. We have worked with commitment, dedication, honesty and sincerity and brought the State to a certain level. We are not compromising as far as maintenance of the law and order situation is concerned.
