Veteran Gandhian and Chairman of Telangana Khadi Board K V Rajeswar Rao died of a heart attack at his residence in the city today. He is 84 and survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.

Hailing from Mogilipet village in Mallapur Mandal of Korutla division in Karimnagar district, Rajeswar Rao is known for his social service and oratory skills. He served as Sarpanch of his village for 20 long years and contributed much to the village development.


The octogenarian Began his political career as a TDP party worker in NTR regime. He joined the TRS party in 2000 and got elected as Metpalli ZPTC member in 2001. He also served as the Chairman of Karimnagar ZPTC during the united AP rule. He was a close confidant of several Chief Ministers in the past including PV Narasimha Rao, NT Rama Rao, Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy and the present CM KCR.

He took charge as the Khadi Board Chairman in 2008 and since then continuing to serve till his last breath for 12 years.
