Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy on Saturday released the calendar of Maheshwara Gorakshana Samithi in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister lauded the services of Samithi activists who are at the forefront of protecting cows as they play a major role in the country’s agriculture economy. Former Khairatabad MLA Ramachandra Reddy was also present on the occasion.
Founded by the veteran nutritionist and film producer Veera Reddy, Maheshwara Gorakshana Samithi has been housing over 50 cows at a Goshala in Devulapally village near Kowdipally on the Narsapur road. They have all been sick before coming here and Veera Reddy purchased them from traders who sell them off to Kabelas for slaughter.
Thanks to the care taken by Veera Reddy in protecting these cows from being sold to the slaughterhouses, these are now healthier enough. A caretaker has been appointed along with a veterinary doctor to look after their well being from time to time.
Reacting on this, Veera Reddy says it would be his endeavour to protect these dumb creatures as he see mother goddess in them. “It is our minimum responsibility to do our bit as the service of a cow to mankind is unparallel”, he said.
