KRMB writes AP to stop RLI tender process, finalises water sharing


The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) has shot a letter to the Andhra Pradesh state government to stop the tendering process for its proposed Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project (RLIP) forthwith.

The board which met here today instructed the AP to stop the tender process which it called for recently until submission of its complete Detailed Project Report (DPR). It may be recalled, the Telangana has complained to the KRMB about the AP’s proposed RLIP claiming that southern Telangana would be dried up if it comes up.

In view of the above, the Ministery of Jal Shakti has called in an APEX council meeting with both AP TS. However, TS has sought to postpone the meeting in view of its proposed cabinet meeting today. In the meantime, the KRMB which met here today in this context issued the orders to this effect besides fixing the water shares to both AP and TS.

Telangana – 37.672 TMC

Andhra Pradesh – 17 TMC

Meanwhile, Vamshi Chand Reddy of Congress party has filed a writ petition in the High Court seeking orders to stop AP government going ahead with the RLI project on river Krishna.
