KTR assures housing for Journos, distributes cheques

Minister for IT and Municipal Administration KT Rama Rao assured the journalist community of providing housing facility at the earliest.


Addressing media persons at a cheque distribution programme for their families organised by the Telangana Media Academy here at Jal Vihar today, the Minister vows to take the responsibility to this effect as his government would last for another 3 years to come. He blamed his predecessors for messing up the journalist housing scheme that had finally landed in the court.

“Hopefully, the court issues will come to end soon and will take up the issue”, he said adding that his government is keen on protecting and safeguarding the lives of journalists by extending financial relief to their families in case of death, besides helping their children to study further through the interest accrued from the Rs52 crore deposited in Journalist Welfare Fund created by CM KCR.

He also promised to release orders to provide admission to the children of journalists into government residential schools.

Academy Chairman Allam Narayana chaired the meeting while Andhole MLA Chanti Kranti Kiran and other TUWJ leaders including Ismail, Maruthi Sagar, Yoganand and others were among those participated.
