“A total of 2.5 lakh 2BHK houses are being built at a cost of Rs18,000 crore of which the market value would be more than Rs70,000 crore”, said the Minister for MA&UD KT Rama Rao.
Speaking after inaugurating the 2BHK dignity houses built at Jiyaguda, Godeke Kabar and Kattelmandi in the city today, KT Rama Rao said this is the commitment of his government under the leadership of KCR to provide houses to the poor as promised. “Like an elder son and maternal uncle, KCR could able to provide houses to the poor which no other government in the country is able to do”, he said adding that his government is providing houses to the poor which has worth over Rs 40-50 lakh each in the market today.
The GHMC has constructed 1152 2BHK houses at a cost of Rs 95.58 Crore which comprises 840 in Jiyaguda, 192 in Godeke Kabar and 120 in Kattelmandi. “There will be transparency in the allotment of 2BHK houses through a lottery system. And suggested not to rely on middlemen and get cheated later”, said KTR.
Government is providing basic amenities like – Drinking Water, Electricity and Roads but, he wanted, them to form into a local welfare association like in the case of gated communities only to look after the residents’ civic amenities besides maintenance like lift, gardens, parks, shops and keep the colony neat & clean to live healthy with income generation from 56 shops provided in the colony.
