KTR lays foundation stone for Neera Cafe in city

Minister KT Rama Rao is seen speaking after laying foundation stone for Neera Cafe on the Necklace road in the city.

Minister for IT and Municipal Administration KT Rama Rao hoped that the more number of Neera Cafes should come up in the state.

He was speaking after laying a foundation stone for the construction of Neera Cafe on the Necklace Road in the city today. KTR eulogised on the measures taken to protect the toddy appears in the state by the Chief Minister. He said that the government has announced an exgratia of Rs 5 lakh each to over 27.10 crore beneficiaries in case of death besides exempting Rs16 crore tax on toddy trees.

He further said that Telangana is the only state to abolish the tax on toddy trees besides providing financial assistance to the toddy tappers society. He hoped in tune with the changing times, the toddy tappers also would change for the betterment of their community and wished that Neera Cafes would definitely boost the business of toddy appears in the state.

Minister for Excise v Srinivas Goud said in his speech earlier that KCR was the only leader who brought glory to the otherwise famed traditional house-hold professional weavers and toddy tappers which in fact faced the threat of extinction during the united AP regime. He blamed previous governments for neglecting the toddy which is being called as ‘Neera’ as part of which they tried even to shut down the trade but for the leaders like former MP Dharma Bhiksham it could not have been made possible, he said. He also recollected the contribution of Sarvai Papanna who had sacrificed for the welfare of Goud Community.

Ministers Srinivas Goud, Srinivas Yadav, MLC Padmarao Goud, MLA Danam Nagender, Tourism MD Manohar, Excise Commissioner Ajay Rao, other officials Khureshi and Dattaraj Goud etc. have took part in the programme. They also posed for photographs while consuming the Neera on the Dias.
