The Divisional Committee of Maoist party has called for a bandh on September 6 in Jayashankar Bhupalpalli, Mulugu, Mahabubabad, Warangal and Peddapalli to protest against the killing of Shankar in what they called fake encounter.

In a statement here today, the Divisional Committee Secretary Venkatesh alleged that Shankar was caught while going to a hospital for treatment and cops killed him in a fake encounter branding him as unknown Naxalite near Devarlagudem village in Gundala Mandal. Shankar’s original name was Doodi Dewal and hails from Arlapalli village in Sukuma district in Chattisgarh. He was recruited in the party for Kunta area Committee in 2013 and he rose to a level of commander in the party. He was then transferred to Telangana and has been working here since then. Police caught him when he went to the hospital for treatment and killed him in a fake encounter in the early hours on Septemeber 3.

The statement further said that the TRS government is unleashing repressive methods to put an end to the Maoist party in Telangana projecting them as ‘obstacles for the development’. In fact, people know who really are. TRS government and police together are indulging in murderous politics in the name of development, he said and seeks to make the band a success.
