Telangana State government has distributed cars to the unemployed tribal youth under Own Your Car Scheme here today. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed between the Uber Cabs and the Tribal Welfare department on the occasion.
Speaking after distributing Maruthi Dezire cars to the selected tribal youth here at a simple function held in DSS Bhavan in Tribal Welfare Department, the Minister for Tribal and Tourism Chandulal said that the effort of the state government will make the unemployed tribal youth to eke out livelihood on their own. The programme is part of the state government’s objective to create employment opportunities to at least 7000 tribal youth by spending Rs.400 crore as earmarked in the current year’s budget, he said adding a sum of Rs.228 crore is scheduled to be spent in the next financial year by encouraging Tribal industrialists
He further said KCR government is set to spend Rs.55 crore under the Chief Minister’s Empowerment programme to encourage potential tribal industrialist and the responsibility of selecting right candidates has been vested with the Indian School of Business (ISB). “Out of which, 43.37 per cent is to be spent on tribal development while Rs.922.30 crore will be spent on setting up tribal educational institutions besides Rs.450.83 crore for scholarships. He also announced that his government would introduce a comprehensive health scheme for the students of tribal institutes besides opening a specialized command centre with all experienced doctors on the panel.
Commissioner of Tribal Welfare, Christina Chongtu, Principle Secretary to Govt Ekka Mahesh Dutta and other top officials participated in the programme.
