NGOs participate in Feedback session on Water Hole Census

The Telangana Forest Department convened a meeting with NGOs and Volunteers who had participated in the water hole census of Wild animal earlier for obtaining firsthand feedback on the experiences of the volunteers. 53 Volunteers representing 5 NGOs i.e, WWF, Friends of Snake Society, Hyderabad Tiger Conservation Society, Deccan Birders, Forest and Wildlife Protection Society, attended the feedback session held in Aranya Bhavan today.

These volunteers had gone to Amrabad Tiger Reserve, Kawal Tiger Reserve and Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary for attending the water hole census. During the feedback session, the participants suggested conducting such field activity in wildlife areas once in 3 months on subjects like wildlife habitat improvement, wildlife protection, Anti-poaching drive, wildlife monitoring and creation of awareness among the people for wildlife conservation.

The volunteers suggested measures like imposing a ban on the use of plastics in wildlife areas, training field staff up to grass root level in the monitoring of wildlife and control of wildlife crime. They assured the Forest Department of full cooperation in the field of wildlife conservation and creation of awareness.

The Prl. Chief Conservators of Forests (Prod) M Prudhvi Raju, Smt. R. Sobha, Addl. Prl. Chief Conservator of Forests (Admn) Munindra participated in the meeting and distributed certificates of appreciation to the participants.
