With Central government appointing a senior BJP leader from Odisha Biswa Bhusan Harichandan as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, the AP government led by its Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy appears to have launched a hunt for suitable premises for the new Governor to stay.
It is said that the Harichandan is all set to stay in Vijayawada instead of Hyderabad although it continued to be the joint capital till 2024. However, the paradox is the erstwhile TDP government has planned construction of assembly, secretariat etc. but did not accord priority to the construction of Raj Bhavan as the outgoing Governor ESL Narasimhan preferred to stay at Hyderabad. Narasimhan used to stay in a star hotel as and when he visited Vijayawada on an official purpose.
It has now necessitated for the YS government to take up construction of Raj Bhavan on a priority basis either at Vijayawada or Amaravati. Sources told MaaHyderabad that the Chief Minister has deliberated with officials on this and may come out with concrete proposal within a few days to come. Meanwhile, the CM said to have ordered to make arrangements to convert the R&B Guest House at Bandar Raod in Vijayawada as the temporary Raj Bhavan for the new Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan.
