The former member of Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir said that only Congress party can defeat communal forces and bringing about the development people are expecting.
Shabbir Ali, on the last day of GHMC election campaign today, took part in a series of Padayatra, Road Shows and Street corner meetings in different Divisions of Yakutpura, Chandrayangutta, Malakpet and Sanathnagar constituencies.
Addressing those meetings, Shabbir Ali said that the GHMC elections have completely unmasked the TRS, BJP and MIM and exposed the reality that they could go to any extent to win elections. He said that all the three parties pursued a common agenda of instilling fear and hatred among the people and tried to keep them mentally engaged on issues which were not linked to their day-to-day lives. He said that the communal narrative was used to distract people’s attention from the failures of State and Central Government from controlling the spread of Covid-19, negative impact of lockdown and the devastation caused due to floods. He said that TRS, BJP and MIM did not discuss any civic problems and gave a wrong message to the people that they would be in danger if they didn’t vote for them.
Shabbir Ali pointed out that the MIM was contesting from only 51 seats and in at least 40-45 seats, MIM was not having BJP as its main rival. “MIM is having a direct fight with the Congress party in a majority of Divisions. But it used BJP as ‘Vote Katwa’ to divide anti-incumbency vote against TRS,” he said.
He said that none of the Union Ministers who campaigned for BJP in GHMC elections visited Hyderabad when people were stranded in floodwaters. He said there were several flood-affected areas in Hyderabad where normalcy is not restored. Amit Shah spoke about changing the name of Hyderabad. But he did not speak about flood-affected people not receiving any relief.
Referring to the speech delivered by Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao at LB Stadium on Saturday, Shabbir Ali said it was highly shameful that CM KCR did not speak about civic issues and instead talked about a ‘conspiracy’ being hatched by some elements to disturb the peace. “KCR is the Chief Minister. If he is having information about the ‘conspiracy’ then he should take action immediately. Does he need to make people vote for TRS to foil that ‘conspiracy’? Is he trying to say that he would allow communal disturbances and curfew if people don’t vote for TRS in GHMC elections?” he asked.
Shabbir Ali said that the TRS, BJP and MIM have tried to attack the city’s ‘Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb’ with their provocative speeches and tarnish its four-century-old image of being a truly secular city.
He said that the previous Congress regime has developed Hyderabad by spending over Rs. 1 lakh crore from 2004-2014. Many projects, including the international airport, outer ring road, metro rail, Expressway, flyovers, drinking water from Krishna and Godavari Rivers, etc., were brought in a short span to transform Hyderabad into a truly global city. He said that the TRS Government has failed to even maintain the infrastructure created during the Congress regime. He appealed to the people to vote for Congress candidates if they wish to see development again.
