PM calls for a nation-wide 9-minute ‘Jyoti Prajwalan’ on April 5


Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon the nation to observe a 9-minute ‘Jyoti Prajwalan’ by lighting a lamp in their respective houses on April 5 at 9 pm.

In a video message to the nation this morning, PM Modi urged the people to switch off all the electricity at home and light the lamps either through the traditional lamps, candle lights, or mobile or torch lights etc. to exhibit our country’s united strength in fighting the COVID-19 besides thanking the ‘Eshwar’, the lord Shiva who is in the form of this countryman (Janatha Janardhan).

“We need to give the message to our fellow countrymen that we are not alone in this fight against the COVID virus. We are all for one another.”, he said adding that “This is the only ‘Rambhaan’ (the arrow of Rama) that can kill the virus”. However, he insisted on maintaining a social distance during the event. He wanted no one needs to come on to the road. “Everyone should remain in their houses and exhibit the united strength of 130 crore people of this country”, he said.

While appreciating the efforts of the countryman in responding to his call for a Janata Curfew on March 22nd, Prime Minister said that the event has come to stand as an example for the world which is now trying to follow us. He also thanked everyone for being part of this fight against the Coronavirus and wanted people to come forward to defeat the Coronavirus.
