The Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Sajjanar appealed to the youngsters to draw inspiration from those policemen who have sacrificed their lives for the sake of society.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Blood Donation Camp in association with the Red Cross Society in connection with the Police Commemoration Week in the Commissionerate campus on Friday. He recollected how several police officers have sacrificed their lives while fighting with extremists and terrorists. Referring to those 10 CRPF jawans who were killed in Indo-China war on October 21st, 1959, Sajjanar said en number of policemen have been sacrificing their lives since then in the service of the nation. “This year alone 292 policemen have become martyred”, he said adding that ‘Hence, it becomes our duty to recollect their services rendered to the society on this day”.
He appreciated the Director of Indian Red Cross Society Dr Nataraj and his son Prudhviraj who is working as Corporate Accounts Head in HDFC Bank for donating blood for 136th time and 52nd time, respectively. He also thanked Medicover and HDFC employees for participating in the blood donation camp.
Dr Natarajan handed over a certificate signed by the Governor to the CP Sajjanar as a token of recognition for donating blood. A large number of policemen, public and NGO activists participated in the programme.
The CP later inaugurated an Open House programme on the occasion wherein a large number of school kids took part and interestingly watched the demonstrations of arms and ammunition. The others who participated in the programme include DCP (Women & Child Safety) Anasuya, ASP Lakshmi Narayana, ACP Santosh Kumar, Red Cross Society Ranga Reddy chairman Narasimha Reddy, Vice Chairman Pandu, CTC Dr Sukumar, RIs Himakar, Vishnu, Suman, Mattaiah, Suresh etc.
