Propagate importance of girl child: Minister Satyavathi

The Minister for Women and Child Welfare Satyavathi Rathod called upon people to propagate the importance of girl children in the family.


Speaking on the occasion commemorating the International Day of the Girl Child today, the Minister recollected the efforts being made by her government to contain the atrocities against women by making laws more stringent like banning pregnancy tests, abortions etc.

As part of it, the state government is strictly implementing Beti Bachao .. Beti Paadavo programme in its letter and spirit besides conducting several awareness programmes in rural and urban areas through TV, Radio and outdoor media besides conducting cycle rallies and bike rallies etc. Hyderabad and Karimnagar districts have been adjudged the best in Community Awareness and Community Engagement categories, for 2018 and 2019 respectively.

She further said with an intention to support mother and child, the government is providing Rs2000 every month for 6 months during pregnancy besides Rs1000 as an incentive in case girl child is born aggregating to Rs13,000.

“We are also providing Rs2500, Rs5000 and Rs10,000 as an incentive to those girls who tops in SSC and Intermediate examinations as a token of encouragement to promote girls education”, said the minister.
