The South Central Railway (SCR) has changed the name of Raigir railway station as Yadadri Railway station.
According to a release here today, the SCR authorities said that that the Raigiri railway station situated between Secunderabad-Kazipet section in Secunderabad division has been renamed after the famous pilgrimage centre Yadagiri Gutta which also renamed as Yadadri.
Raigiri railway station will henceforth be called as Yadadri Railway station, said the note. It may be recalled Raigiri station has been serving as the alighting point for the pilgrims to reach Yadadri temple which is being remodelled into one of the major pilgrimage centres in Telangana. The state government has also chalked out plans to extend MMTC train services up to Yadadri besides laying a metro rain service to this fast budding pilgrimage centre in South India.
