Railways created a record in fertilizer transport: Union Minister

Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers DV Sadananda Gowda today announced that the Department of Fertilisers created a record of sorts by moving 73 fertilizer rakes in a single day.

While thanking the Indian Railways for its achievement, the Minister said this would not have been made possible had Railways not cooperated with us. “Till date, this is a record number of fertiliser rakes moved in a single day,” he stated.

During the month of June this year, the average movement of Fertilizer rakes was 56.5 per day. It’s also a record number for any June month historically. He added that the Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to making available affordable fertilisers at the appropriate time to farmers, he said.

He further said that so far for ongoing Kharif season, the Central Government in close coordination with State Governments has ensured a steady supply of fertilisers in adequate quantity to farmers across the country.
