SC rejects AP CM’s complaint against Justice NV Ramana, recommends for next CJ


The Supreme Court on Wednesday recommended the name of Justice NV Ramana as the next Chief Justice of India.


A letter to this effect recommending Justice NV Ramana as his next successor was sent to the Ministry of Law and Justice by Chief Justice Bobde. The same will be sent to the consideration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and upon which the same will be sent to the President for final consent.

The present CJ Bobde is set to retire next month whereas NV Ramana will retire on August 2022.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court outrightly rejected the complaint lodged by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy in connection with the cases pertaining to the Amaravathi land issues. In a note issued here today, the Supreme Court said that the decision was taken after an in-house probe conducted on the complaint as per the Supreme Court manual.

The SC also said that the details of the In-House proceedings cannot be revealed as it is highly confidential. The AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy has also submitted his complaint through an affidavit on October 6, 2020.
