Special School For Children Of Brick Kiln Workers Inaugurated


In a noble cause, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh M. Bhagwat and Yadadri District Collector Ramachanran inaugurated a school exclusively for the children of brick kiln workers in Peddakondur village of Choutuppal mandal in Yadadri District here today under Rachakonda commissionerate limits.

The school is located near the Work Site where in the parents of the children work who are all from Odisha. Sensing that these children are most vulnerable to the child labour, the CP has initiated the measure to protect them from becoming child labour. The school has been named as ‘Ituka Bhattila Valasa Karmikula Bala Balikala School’ wherein at least 182 children between the age group of 5 to 12 years have been studying in first standard to 5th standard.

The students were provided with dresses, steal plates, books and pen, pencils to the children. In this school, four Odisha teachers have been appointed by Peddakondur village Brick owner association. In this connection, a poster against child labour practice in Telugu, English, Hindi and Oriya languages released on this occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector assured to extend mid day meal and 1Rs KG Rice scheme to the children.

CP Rachakonda Mahesh M Bhagwathas in his speech stated that this is a first of kind partnership project for children vulnerable to become child labour in the country. Under the operation smile 3 in 2017, Rachakonda Police rescued 804 children from forced labour.

Under the operation smile 4 in 2018 so far 120 children were rescued in Rachakonda commissionerate and they were all from Bihar, UP, Zarkhand, Orissa, AP, Telangana working in hazardous industries. Work site school program will be implemented in Rangareddy, Medchal District too for children vulnerable to child labour, he said.

He further elaborated that they are native of Odisha Bolangir, Koraput, Naupada, Kalahandi District with the help of other stake holders. After 5 months of worksite school, these children when they return back their education will be continued in Odisha in partnership with Odisha Government.

In 2017 at Pedakonduru village of Chottupal & Chikatimamidi village of Bommala Ramaram mandal in Rachakonda 350 Child labour of Odisha state rescued from brick kilns by Rachakonda Police underwent this 5 months worksite school program which has got appreciation from Nobel laureate Kailas Satyarthi as well and subsequently CP Rachakonda Mahesh Bhagwat  was presented internationally acclaimed Hero award.
