Stop regular darshans in Telangana temples: VHP urges KCR

Telangana unit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad appealed to the state government to stop daily mass darshans at all prominent Hindu temples as a precautionary measure to prevent from further spread of Coronavirus to devotees and the archakas dedicated to the temple rituals.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the President of VHP Rama Raju and Secretary Bandari Ramesh felt it has become imperative in view of the reports of over 150 temple priests in Tirumala Tirupathi and Srisailam temples in Andhra Pradesh were afflicted with covid virus, it would be advisable to adopt some precautionary measures such as stopping regular darshans for the devotees for some time as was followed during the locked down period.

“Protecting the temple priests should be our primary concern now”, said Ramarajau adding that the priests are more vulnerable to the spread of Covid as they directly come into contact with the devotees. “Regular darshans should be stopped immediately in temples like Yadadri, Vemulawada, Dharmapuri and Bhadradri till the situation comes under control, said the VHP leaders.
