Swami Vivekananda’s portrait unveiled at MCR HRD Institute

Director-General of Dr MCR HRD Institute BP Acharya today unveiled the portrait of Swami Vivekananda in Vivekananda Hall of DR.MCR HRD Institute and offered floral tributes.

The Hall is being used for conducting Yoga and Meditation Sessions for the Officer Trainees. Thanking the eminent artist Ahobilam Prabhakar who made the oil painting for the institute, Acharya felicitated him on the occasion.


Speaking on the occasion, the DG recalled Swami Vivekananda’s famous Chicago speech, which had only 471 words, but it drew the attention of the Western countries towards India.

“Swami Vivekananda, through his teachings, influenced the youth and made them believe in the mantra, ‘yes, we can’”, said Acharya while calling upon people to follow his teachings that talk about taking care of fellow-beings and educating them. He quoted Swami Vivekananda’s saying, “Jan Seva is Prabhu Seva”, (public service is service of God).

Additional Director General of the Institute Harpreet Singh said that a glance at the portrait of Swami Vivekananda would fill the hearts with purity, patience, and perseverance and would be a continuing source of inspiration for the Officer Trainees at the Institute.
