The Election Commission of India has appointed a Tamilnadu IPS officer Saroj Kumar Thakur as a police observer to the Byelections in the Dubbaka constituency.
The move has come in the wake of the complaint lodged by the BJP following highhandedness of the Siddept police who in the process of forcibly whisking away the BJP State president Bandi Sanjay injured him. He was on his way to meet his party’s contestant in Dubbaka from whose residence the police recovered a sum of Rs18 lakh from the residence of his relative.
It is said that the Police Observer will sit either in Dubbaka or Siddipet Police headquarters from where he would monitor the electioneering throughout till the end. He would update the EC on a day-to-day basis on every development.
