‘PV Narasimha Rao despite having several historical successes to his credit remained a most underrated Prime Minister of the country”, opined the TRS Parliamentary Floor leader K Keshava Rao.
Delivery his keynote address at a programme organised by Telangana Jagruthi in memory of late former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao on the theme – PV Our Telangana Pride, Keshava Rao, however, added that we all know that the political reasons behind his underrating. “Hence, that was the reason why our Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to organise this year-long event to make known the world his contributions.
“We are planning to erect statues in every country including in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana back home. A massive memorial consisting of his museum, library, and publication division on the lines of Dr Abdul Kalam memorial built in Rameshwaram has been planned to set up in Hyderabad. Designs of which have already been selected and it will be finalised once the CM KCR okays it”, he said besides adding that the State Assembly to pass a unanimous resolution requesting the central government to announce Bharat Ratna to the legendary PV Narasimha Rao, he said.
Keshava Rao further declared that several other programmes such as requesting PM to release a stamp and institute an award in PV’s memory in education and literary sector were among other programmes are being planned. “The Telangana Sports Council chairman has come forward to organise a massive 150 km run “I Am For PV” from Vangara to Hyderabad”, he said.
Keshava Rao also recollected how PV faced the allegations in Jharkhand Corruption case and subsequent books on his role wrote by Kuldeep Nayyar and Arjun Singh. “But of late, PV’s Betenoir’s themselves had realised their mistakes and accepted him as the greatest leader”, he said adding “Hence, my first salute to the Chief Minister KCR for deciding to show the world PV’s contribution”.
Earlier, delivering the inaugural address, founder President of Telangana Jagruthi Kalvakuntla Kavitha recollected PV’s achievements as the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister to the state and the country and demanded the Central Government to announce Bharat Ratna to him as he is the pride son of not just Telangana but the entire country.
A resolution to this effect was also passed in the meeting. Others who spoke on the occasion include PV’s daughter Vani Devi, son Prabhakar Rao and the journalist and writer who translated PV’s book – Insider, Kalluri Bhaskar.
