The Tiger on the prowl has killed yet another 15-year-old tribal girl identified as Nirmala in Kondapalli village of Bejjur range in Asifabad district today.
According to the details received here, the tiger had attacked the girl while she went to the cotton field inside the forest near Kondapalli along with her two brothers around 2 pm to collect the cotton balls from the field which they said to be cultivating in an encroached land.
Brothers went to get water from the nearby irrigation canal, heard the noise and saw the tiger dragging the girl by the neck to 30 m into the forest. They made sounds and Tiger jumped and ran into the Forest.
Forest team, DFO Asifabad and CF Field Director Kawal along with police already reached and inspected the scene. However, no body parts were eaten. Post mortem report found only canine Mark’s on the neck due to which the instant death occurred. Besides her 2 brothers, there were 10 more people picking the cotton. This girl was in one corner towards thick vegetation.
Authorities said no pug Mark’s were found as the land was dry and a lot of leaf fall was there in the area. At least 20 camera traps were laid around the kill site and the entire route of the body dragged up to where it was left.
It may be recalled that the man-eater has killed a 20-year-old youth Siddam Vignesh in the Girelli forest area in Rebanna Mandal of Asifabad division on November 13 prompting the forest officials to launch a massive tiger hunt and they said it went into Maharashtra. But suddenly, it surfaced today only to kill the girl today at Bejjur.
However, Forest officials suspect that this tiger might be the same that killed a youth Vignesh in Dahegaon village and it might have returned from Maharashtra in a week’s time.
