TRS, BJP and MIM intimidating voters over Covid vaccination: Uttam Kumar

TS Congress chief Uttam Kumar Reddy is addressing at a roadshow in the city today

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy strongly condemned TRS and BJP for what he termed indirectly threatening the voters of denying them with Covid vaccine dose if they do not vote them in the GHMC elections.

Addressing massive roadshows at MS Maktha, Malakpet and other places as part of GHMC election campaign on Friday, Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the trio is intimidating the voters by linking up their campaign with the vaccination. He said both BJP and TRS were responsible for nearly 3 lakh Covid cases and about 1500 deaths in Telangana, especially in Hyderabad. “Lakhs of people who lost their jobs due to Covid pandemic must not vote for TRS, BJP and MIM as they are responsible for imposing an unplanned lockdown. All others who suffered due to lockdown should also reject these parties. While standing in poll queues on 1st December, they must think of themselves and others, who were forced to stand in long queues to collect food items from NGOs and other parties during the lockdown period. While the BJP Govt did not extend any help, TRS Govt washed off its hands after distributing just Rs. 1500 among a few thousand BPL families,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that thousands of people have lost their entire savings to get Covid-19 treatment in private hospitals for themselves or their loved ones. “Despite repeated demand by the Congress party, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao did not include Covid-19 treatment in Aarogyasri Scheme. Private hospitals were given a free hand to loot the common people and nothing was done to regulate the cost of treatment. Consequently, thousands of people lost their entire money while a few hundred also lost their loved ones. BJP Govt remained a mute spectator to back CM KCR and did not intervene to help the people. Today, both the parties are trying to intimidate the voters by promising a free Covid vaccine. Are they trying to say that those who do not vote for them would be denied a dose of Covid vaccine?” he asked.

Similarly, neither the BJP’s Union Ministers nor CM KCR visited any of the flood-affected areas of Hyderabad to meet the people. More than 100 people were killed and thousands of families lost all their belongings due to the floods. Both BJP and TRS leaders should be ashamed of themselves for displaying inhuman behaviour during Covid-19 pandemic and floods. The same leaders are now shamelessly seeking votes for their parties, he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the entire TRS party including CM KCR and all BJP leaders owe an apology to the people of Hyderabad for their behaviour. Similarly, he said that the MIM, the open ally of TRS and secret partner of BJP, has no moral right to seek votes as it betrayed the people of Hyderabad to serve the interest of PM Modi and CM KCR. Shockingly, all three parties together conspired to polarise the GHMC elections to evade questioning over their Covid-19 and flood situations. He reminded that the Congress leaders had served the people, with whatever resources they could mobilise, both during the lockdown period and flood situation.

The TPCC Chief said that the TRS, BJP and MIM leaders would fail in their attempts to polarise the GHMC elections on communal lines. “BJP, TRS and MIM are enacting the drama of rivalry as per the script drafted by Union Minister Amit Shah and choreographed by CM KCR. They are maintaining the perfect rhythm wherein one provocative statement is followed by a counter-statement and then by an action like a visit to a temple or a memorial. Before people could make out that they are being misled, another leader gives another controversial statement,” he said adding that people of Hyderabad would never forgive TRS, BJP and MIM for such cheating attempts.

Uttam Kumar Reddy appealed to the people of Hyderabad to teach TRS, BJP and MIM a fitting lesson for their betrayal. He said that the Congress party if voted to power in GHMC elections would give Rs. 50,000 to every flood affected family and Rs 5 Lakhs and Rs 2.5 Lakhs to fully and partially destroyed houses. An ex-Gratia of Rs 25 lakhs will be paid to the families of those who lost their lives due to floods. He said Covid-19 treatment would be brought under the Aarogyasri and the medical facilities in Gandhi, Osmania, Niloufer and other hospitals would be improved. The number of Basthi Dawakhanas will be increased to 450 and their operating hours will be extended to 9 PM in slums and four multi-speciality hospitals will be dedicated for reference of cases from them. All health centres will be equipped to do free lab tests and dispense free medicines, he promised.

He also promised free local transportation would be provided to women, students, Divyangans and senior citizens in Metro, MMTS and RTC Buses if Congress wins GHMC polls. “Congress party is seeking votes to serve the people while TRS, BJP and MIM are seeking votes just to win the elections and serve themselves,” he said
