Hyderabad, Nov 10 (Telemedia) : The Telangana State Legislative Assembly today passed a resolution seeking intervention of the Centre to ensure that the Andhra Pradesh provide the new State its rightful share of power, as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
The resolution was proposed by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao asking the Centre to direct the Andhra Pradesh Government to provide 53.89 per cent of the power from its projects to Telangana. Stating that the farmers of Telangana were facing severe crisis due to power shortage and drought conditions, he urged the Centre to come to their rescue. He also requested the Centre to include Telangana in the ’24 Hours Power for All schemes.
The move came as a rude shock to the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) as they were left with no alternative but to support the resolution failing which may prove costly for them politically in Telangana region. The government’s strategy seem to have worked well with the opposition as the TDP continued its tirade against the TRS government.
