The State High Court on Friday refused to stop the demolition of secretariat building and struck off the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by retired Prof PL Vishweshwar Rao of Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) Party
A division bench headed by the Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chouhan issued the orders to this effect after fully agreeing with Assistant Solicitor General’s argument that demolitions do not require any permissions from the centre. However, the Solicitor informed the court that the state would get all permission before it takes up construction of new buildings as per law.
The court while welcoming the Cabinet’s decision in this regard advised the government to take all precautions owing to the Covid19 situation. With both state High Court and the Supreme Court responding positively today on Secretariat demolitions, all obstacles seem to have been cleared for the construction of New Secretariat Complex.
The Office of the Chief Minister of Telangana has also welcomed the judgement and instructed all the concern to speed up the demolition process.
