Telangana government on Wednesday issued orders banning spitting in public as it forms an unhealthy practice besides may lead to the spread of potential viruses and other bacterial infections etc.
In an order issued here today, Special Chief Secretary to Government A Shanta Kumari stated that the habit of pubic spitting poses a serious threat to the spread of such infections. Hence, in the interest of public health and safety, spitting of the pan or any chewable substance such as tobacco or non-tobacco items, sputum etc. in public places is banned with immediate effect. Violators will be punished according to the law, the order said.
