The state government is set to open yet another 100 Basti Dawakhanas (Community Hospitals) in addition to the existing 200 of them in the city.
This was revealed by the Minister for Medical and Health Etela Rajendar during a review meeting held here today. He said there is no need to fear about Corona but if you neglect it, it may prove costly for you. Thankfully, the state had a low mortality rate of 0.07 per cent as our government is fighting tooth and nail to contain it.
“We are already conducting covid tests at 145 Basti Dawkhanas and not less than 50 to 60,000 tests every day statewide. There is no dearth of medicines in any centre. Only 5% of the cases out of this are needed hospitalisation. The majority are recovering in home isolation only”, he said.
He further urged the residential welfare associations to come forward to provide community halls, clubhouses under their purview as isolation centres wherein the government will provide all facilities including medicines to the patients there locally. “In order to coordinate these things, a Nodal Officer will also be appointed exclusively for the purpose”, he said.
Etela Rajender reiterated his earlier appeal not to go to private hospitals and end up in a quandary as it would hardly cost RsOne lakh to treat a Covid patient normally. “But the Corporate hospitals fleecing up to even Rs30 lakhs from the gullible patients”, he said.
