TS rules out lockdown, announces Covid Test Tariff for Private hospitals

Telangana government has no intention to impose further lockdown in the state following the spike in the number of Covid positive cases, announced the Minister for Medical and Health Etela Rajendar.

Ruling out the possibility to this effect here at a media jointly organised along with the Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, the Minister declared prices for the Private hospital to conduct Covid19 tests. He said the private laboratories approved by ICMR can charge up to Rs2,200 for conducting normal tests while hospitals can charge up to Rs 4,000 per day for general treatment, Rs 7,500 for treatment in Intensive Care Unit-ICU without a ventilator and Rs 9,000 for ICU treatment with a ventilator.

Announcing this, the Minister said that tests will be conducted as per the guidelines of the ICMR which, he said, has declared that there is no community spread of the disease in the state. “Still the government has decided to conduct 50,000 Covid19 tests in 30 constituencies. We will also conduct the test on all those warriors involved in Covid containment”, he said.

However, he made it clear that people without Corona symptoms will not be tested in the government hospital and urged those willing to go to a private hospital. He also urged those having no virus symptoms should in-home quarantine. He clarified that they are resorting to the measure in order to enhance the confidence levels of the people.

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar while speaking said that the private hospitals would share the data of the tests to the government and urged the hospitals not to commercialize the Covid-19 tests and treatment. ‘We will take stringent action on the hospitals who collects the more than government prescribed rates,’ warned Kumar.
