Tungabhadra Pushkaras commence at Alampur, Ministers attend

The traditional Tungabhadra Pushkaralu commenced here today with formally opening it by the Minister for Endowments Allola Indra Karan Reddy at Alampur on Telangana side while the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Pushkara ghat at the opposite bank of river Tungabhadra.


The Minister accompanied by his wife, daughter-in-law and grandson besides the Ministers from Mahabubnagar district V Srinivas Goud, Singireddi Niranjan Reddy and MLA Abraham took a holy dip in the river and performed pujas at the Alampur temple.

A large number of people including sadhus and Swamiji thronged the river to take a holy dip. A Homam was also performed on the auspicious beginning of Tungabhadra Pushkaralu which will last up to December 1st.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Indra Karan Reddy said that the CM had sanctioned the amount and asked them to organise the holy Pushakara festival on par with other festivals in the past. “CM wanted Tungabhadra Pushkaras to be held prestigiously”, said Reddy.
