A report of a Mumbai-based Television Journalist has reportedly led to the huge gathering of migrant labourers thronging Bandra West Railway Station causing commotion during the lockdown yesterday.
Rahul Kulkarni, a Television journalist representing a Marathi News Channel reported that the government is thinking of a special passenger train to carry the migrant labourers to their destinations had resulted in commotion believing which migrant labourers have thronged in thousands to the Bandra station. It was a tough time for the administration to pacify them to go back to their shelters as it was not possible to run a train during the lockdown.
The report turned out to be a fake and the journo was arrested today for ‘spreading misinformation’. He was remanded to 15 days judicial custody by the judge initially refusing the plea of police to give him to their custody. But later he was granted bail with a surety of Rs 15,000 after his advocate filed a bail petition to this effect.
