The state government has issued orders for the construction of 2 check dams at a cost of Rs 44.27 crores across river Manjira at two different places in Banswada constituency.
Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy while thanking the Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao for obliging his request to construct 2 check dams in his constituency said the CM had released the amount for taking up check dams one at Beerkur at a cost of Rs 28.29 Crore and another in Banswada at a cost of Rs 15.87 Crore across river Manjira.
He said that due to these check dams would mitigate the sufferings of farmers in villages surrounding it as the underground water table would increase considerably. “These Check dams would be completed by the beginning of the rainy season in June’, he declared.
The Speaker on the request of the farmers spoke to the Irrigation officials and instructed them to release the waters from Nizamasagar reservoir to the ayacut canals of Manjira as the water levels have come down. He visited the canals to check the water flow and spoke to the farmers there.
