Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi dies of Coronavirus a few minutes from now while undergoing treatment in All India Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here. He is 65.

Suresh Angadi is the first Indian minister to die of the Covid virus. He was tested positive last week but was asymptomatic. He is a 3 time elected MP from Belgavi in Karnataka in 2009, 2014 and 2019. He is survived by wife and 2 daughters.

Shocked at his sudden demise, the President, Prime Minister, Vice President and his entire cabinet colleagues besides the president of Bharatiya Janata Party JP Nadda expressed shock and their deep anguish at his demise.

Railway Minister Piyush Goel said: “Words fail me at this time, he was an absolutely wonderful human being. It is a deep personal loss for me. He was elder to me, he always guided & supported me. Under his leadership, Indian railways was taking many new dimensions

BJP Chief JP Nadda: “It is unfortunate that one of our senior leaders Angadi Ji passed away today. Throughout his life, he worked for the welfare of people. I pray to the almighty to give strength to his family so that they can overcome this grief.”

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu: “Deeply shocked by the sudden demise of the Union Minister Shri Suresh Angadi. He was a people’s leader who strove for the uplift of the downtrodden. My condolences to the bereaved family members. Om Shanti”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi: “Shri Suresh Angadi was an exceptional Karyakarta, who worked hard to make the Party strong in Karnataka. He was a dedicated MP and effective Minister, admired across the spectrum. His demise is saddening. My thoughts are with his family and friends in this sad hour. Om Shanti”.
