Minister for Health Etela Rajender wanted Gandhi hospital authorities to depend more on machine cleaning than manual cleaning for sanitisation.

He ordered to this effect during his visit to the hospital today to review the situation. He conducted a review meeting with health officials and advised them to appoint heads to each of the department and make them responsible for any dereliction of service.

He further instructed to focus on increasing the staff strength as there is potential to come more cases in the days to come. “There is a huge burden on Gandhi as it became the only Covid Centre in the state. The situation is so grave that out of 2000 beds here 1000 beds are in ICU. Still, there is a demand for more beds”, he declared.

He later visited the adjoining academic building wherein 200 additional beds have been arranged for accomodating covid patients. He advised the authorities to ensure proper ventilation and fixing exhaust fans in every ward for the free flow of air.

The DME Dr Ramesh Reddy, Dr Karunakar Reddy and Dr Gangadhar are among others who have accompanied the minister.

Earlier in the day, the Minister participated in a video conference with Superintendents of all government hospitals in the state including those doctors personally treating Covid patients along with the DME Dr Ramesh Reddy and Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar. The video conference was mostly focussed on the methodology of treating the patients and saving lives etc.
