VH goes on hunger strike, seeks to install Ambedkar statue

Cong leader V Hanumanth Rao is seen on a hunger strike at his residence in Bagh Amberpet

The senior Congress leader and former MP V Hanumanth Rao resorted to a hunger strike demanding to restore the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar at Panjagutta circle.

He said he would continue his Deeksha till the government restores the Ambedkar Statue which brought from Amalapuram and tried to erect it at Panjagutta on April 12, 2019. However, he charged that police have dismantled the statue the next day and shifted it to Goshamahal stadium.

He questioned how can police keep Ambedkar Statue in a police station and nobody in government or ruling party is talking about it. “It is clear Constitutional architect has no value in Telangana and I would continue my hunger strike till my death if the statue is not installed at Panjagutta”, he said adding that he had spent about 5 lakh rupees in making that statue.

Reacting to a querry on Sharmila’s vow of bringing Rajanna Rajyam to Telangana, Hanumanth Rao said that there was no Rajanna Rajyam. “It was the Congress that made her father Chief Minister”, he quipped.
