Former MLA and the Chairman of Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMDA) Dronamraju Srinivas died of coronavirus this morning.
Dronamraju was hospitalised for a month about now after he was afflicted with Covidvirus. Though he was discharged recently after recovering from the virus, he continued to suffer from its impact resulting in the failure of other organs and breathed his last this morning while undergoing treatment.
Dronamraju contested as MLA unsuccessfully on the YSRCP party ticket from Visakhapatnam south in 2019 which he represented twice in 2004 and 2009 elections representing Congress party. His father a popular leader in Congress party Dronamraju Satyanarayana was also a former minister and represented the same constituency.
The demise of Srinivasa Rao has shocked many including Sarada Peetadhipathi Swamy Swaroopanandendra Saraswathi who praised him for leading a pious life in politics. He said Srinivasa Rao will remain in the minds of people for his honesty and principles in public life.
Dronamraju Srinivas is survived by wife, daughter and a son.
He is the second leader in the party to die of Coronavirus after Durga Prasad of Tirupathi while others like Balineni Srinivas Reddy, Amzad Pasha, Adimulapu Suresh, Vijaya Sai Reddy, Reddappa, Araku MP Madhavi, MLAs Karanam Balram, Ambati Rambabu, B Madhusudhan Reddy, Venkataiah Goud, Mustafa, Jitender Reddy, Hafiz Khan, Annabattula Shiva Kumar, Kilari Rosaiah, Dr Sudhakar, Golla Babu Rao, K Srinivas Rao, Visweshwar Rao and Kalavathi etc.
