Water-man of India visits Mission Kakatiya works in Mahabubnagar



Mahabubnagar: The Water Man of India and the Megasyse awardee Rajendra Singh visited the Mission Kakatiya works being under way in Kothapalli village of Hanwada mandal in Mahbubnagar district on Thursday. The Executive Engineer Narsinga Rao who accompanied the Waterman inspected the lower ayacut in Mogullakunta, Nawabpet besides ongoing works in Kuttur. Rajendra lauded the efforts of Telangana government for taking up noble activity such as Mission Kaktiya. He said the project would prevent the village tanks from reaching dead storage during summers and helps animals in doing away with drinking water problems. 

Rajendra Singh is a well-known water conservationist from Alwar district, Rajasthan in India. Also known as “waterman of India”, he won the Stockholm Water Prize, an award known as “the Nobel Prize for water”, in 2015. Previously, he won the Ramon Magsaysay Award for community leadership in 2001 for his pioneering work in community-based efforts in water harvesting and water management.
