The 5th day of the Monsoon sessions today is likely to be stormy following the resignation of the Union Cabinet Minister for Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal protesting against the three farm bills meant to replace three Ordinances notified in June.
However, it is perceived that Harsimrat did not announce her resignation but her husband Sukhbindar Singh Badal who announced her resignation in Lok Sabha following which She sent in her resignation to the PMO. Subkbir is the president of Shiromani Akali Dal and also the Member of Parliament from Ferozpur constituency. He reported having taken the step in view of Punjab going to the polls in the next 18 months and subsequently the farmers taking to streets protesting the bills.
Meanwhile, President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has accepted the resignation of Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal from the Union Council of Ministers, with immediate effect, under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution.
Further, as advised by the Prime Minister, The President has directed that Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Cabinet Minister, be assigned the charge of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, in addition to his existing portfolios.
