All is set for the maiden visit of the American President Donal Trump on Monday, February 24. The world leader is expected to be received by non-other than the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Ahmadabad airport.
The President and his entourage along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi will go on a 23-km roadshow up to the Sardar Patel Cricket Stadium popularly known as Motera Stadium where the duo will address crowds. This event the government says has been organised by the “Donald Trump Nagrik Abhinandan Samiti”.
Later in the day, the American President and his family will visit Sabarmati ashram and pay their respects to Mahatma Gandhi. Then they will travel to Agra to have a glimpse of one of the 7 wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal. He would then fly into Delhi in the evening for formal talks the next day with President at Rashtra Pathi Bhavan and the Prime Minister at Hyderabad House.
Trump’s daughter Ivanka (38) and son-in-law Jared Kushner (39) will be part of a high-powered delegation that accompanies the US President to India. US National Security Advisor Robert O’ Brien, Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette too are expected to be part of the delegation.
A trade deal was supposed to take place but it was cancelled in the last moment as modalities were not finalised yet. However, it is expected that a $2.6 billion helicopter deal for the Navy may come up in the discussion. The 24 ultra-modern naval helicopters of MH-60R are likely to be inducted into the Indian Navy only to replace the obsolete British-made Sea King choppers, that were added to our fleet 49 years ago.
