Yet another private hospital refuses to hand over Covid dead body for money


In continued anarchy by private hospitals, the Gachibowli Care hospital alleged to have refused to hand over the dead body of a corona patient besides confining the relatives for want of Rs 3.5 lakh bill to be cleared.


According to the details available, the Corona patient identified as 43-year-old Baswa Nagaraj reportedly died on Saturday. The relatives alleged that hospital management had confined their family members and refuse to let them unless Rs 3.20 lakh is paid by them. They said hospital imposed a bill of Rs 7.20 lakh for a period 9 days since May 25. He was tested positive on May 26 and has been under treatment ever since till January 4.

They also complained that the deceased had no previous medical history and doctors informed them that he died after his heart, kidney and lungs were affected due to Corona. They said the hospital has already claimed an insurance Rs 4 lakh and pestering for the remaining dues and urged to rescue their relatives as they were confined by the hospital staff.

However, Care hospital PRO Siva, speaking to MaaHyderabad condemned the relatives’ allegations and explained that the relatives were only asked to come and sign a document to enable them to hand over the body to GHMC for cremation. “But they refused to come as they fear about the clearing of pending dues of Rs 3.20 lakh which, in fact, the hospital has waived it off as a humanitarian gesture”, he said adding that the “body, however, has been handed over to the police for cremation this evening at 6 pm”.
